22/9/2011 Facebook Employee reveals new feature a day ahead of launch
Facebook Music is launching tomorrow. This, everyone knows. But not everyone knows exactly how it will work, since Facebook been tweaking things right up until launch. But tonight one Facebook employee accidentally revealed one killer feature of the service.
Ji Lee, the creative director that Facebook stole away from Google in April, sent out the following tweet earlier:
The “Listen with your friend” feature in ticker is blowing my mind. Listen to what your friends are listening. LIVE.
Within minutes, Lee deleted the tweet, but not before Mitchell Holder grabbed a screenshot. Yes, Lee is describing a key feature of Facebook Music launching tomorrow. Not only will all music you’re listening to appear in the just-launched right-side ticker, there will be a link to “Listen with your friend”, that when clicked, will allow you to listen along to the same song at the same time (thanks to the magic of scrobbling and track matching).

22/09/2011 HP Board about to fire new CEO?
Rumor has it that HP isn’t quite happy with Leo Apotheker’s plans for the company and that he may be fired less than a year after taking the job.
As you’ll recall, Apotheker’s background is in SAP and massive business apps and, because when you have a hammer everything looks like a nail, he figured HP could make all sorts of cash selling the same software to businesses while killing and spinning off various parts of their hardware business. HP’s stock has dropped by nearly half since Apotheker came to power, from $42 to $22 and the investors expressed “near universal opposition” to his acquisition of Autonomy Corp., an information management company.

00:49: 22/09/2011 Google + Too Little Too Late?
Its not really surprising that Google being the established and trusted brand that it is would move into social networking but are they just a few years too late?
Many of us have Linked in, Facebook, Myspace and Youtube accounts, we have also started building up Twitter feeds on technology sources known to us. This all takes time.. do we really need or want to get involved in another one. I use Facebook for home, as many others do, and LinkedIn for work.. Kiltr is another network which I have been recommended to join.. With researching information for this blog and keeping up to date with the White papers that I believe are of interest to our clients taking about an hour a day do I want to spend more time familiarising myself with more features… not really. Although come back in a months time and maybe I’ll have time then. :-/

00:49: 22/09/2011 Reducing Costs
At Stratiis we endeavour to make sure that the solutions we provide are as cost-effective as possible. We will not say that we are the cheapest but we do try hard to be the best. That said our Managed Leased Lines costs are proving to be the cheapest out there at the moment. Last week we saved one client over £250 per month which cant be sneezed during this economic climate. 00:49: 23/08/2011 Is appIe's reign over??
Having a techie husband and watching his initially gradual but subsequently speedy an expensive transformation into Apple consumer extraordinaire has made the last 5 years interesting in our house but with actions over the past week by both Samsung and HTC it looks like the Apple reign might be ending.

The most credible alternative to the IPad, the Samsung Galaxy Tab, which has sold more than 30 milllion since launch has had its Apple imposed injunction lifted by a German court, enabling sales to continue throughout Europe.

In addition HTC has sued the technology giant seeking to halt U.S. imports and sales of Macintosh computers, iPads, iPods, iPhones and other devices because of alleged patent infringements. HTC is alleging infringements of three patents obtained in 2008 and 2010, and which relate to Wi-Fi capability and other functions. It seeks compensatory damages as well as triple damages for willful infringement.

HTC is undeniably my preferred mobile phone vendor, but it just can’t beat the Iphone ‘lifestyle’. That said , maybe the lifestyle was HTC all along.....

22:54 23/08/2011 Movies on facebook

A new App launching on Facebook today will give UK users access to Miramax films to rent. You'll even be able to watch the movies on an iPad through a browser-based player, with Miramax suggesting that a stand alone iPad app could also be on the cards.
Miramax eXperience will land with 10 films available to rent throughout September, each costing 30 Facebook credits in the UK and Turkey. As well as movie-watching, the Miramax eXperience offers a social gaming element whereby users can cast their Facebook friends in various Miramax movies, unlocking bonus content as they play.

Changed days from my grandpa getting in to the ‘pictures’ with a couple of ‘jeely jars’….

22:54 23/08/2011 "i deleted them boss"

I’m not sure what the latest Wikileaks news today about deleted files and the US No-Fly list is supposed to tell us.. Julian Assange having access to data that was apparently there, that he shouldn’t have had in the first place,  was deleted and now has no access to… however it does highlight one particular issue… making sure that your data is safe , secure and remotely backed up… avoiding losing sensitive data such as ‘relating to Bank of America, the internal communications of 20 neo-Nazi organisations and US intercept information for "over a hundred internet companies.’

You never know who you are going to disgruntle.
